Born in Glen Cove, NY. James graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1989. Living in NYC since, he has illustrated children’s books, worked as a broadcast designer, an editorial illustrator, illustrating for the New York Times (20 published), created background scenery for MTV in New York, Miami, and Singapore, most memorably for MTV’s Alternative Nation and 120 minutes in the 90’s. A production artist, a logo designer, a sculptor, he now works as a fine artist and freelance illustrator concentrating recently on plein air paintings and pastels. He also pursues a patent for a recent invention and is creating a line of children’s activity books. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Yoshiko.
